U.S.S. Excalibur
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Steven Davis

This is an awesome original design! From the author:
'The original idea i had in creating it: melding together the best elements of all the trek ships I liked and creating a powerful and huge ship for the future.
The ship itself takes design elements strongly from the Excelsior (the saucer and the front deflector dish/front hull, also strongly from the Sovereign (its undersaucer, overall shape, torpedoe launcers and sleek design), the Constitution (its bridge, first 2 decks and travelpod ports) the Miranda (its shuttlebays), the Galaxy Class (its windows design) and also incorporates its own additions, the dual warp nacelles (with nacelles top and bottom of each), its cutaway back and flat nacelle wings.'

Available formats:
MAX (6.99 MB)

Race: Federation
Mesh by: D.Bates - aka "EBOLII"

This is a stunning mesh, resembling the Defiant design. It's very detailed, and a very sleek looking ship. It might not render all that sleek on some systems though, it's quite a heavy mesh. But well worth the rendering wait!

XCV - Origins
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Luis Picolo and Raul Mamoru

This “ring ship” design is based upon an early Matt Jefferies design for the original Enterprise. Gene Roddenberry had already rejected his intial design, and Jefferies came up with this “ring ship” of which he produced several sketches. Roddenberry rejected this design too, and this led to Jefferies developing the ship we now know as the Constitution class. This is Luis' and Rauls interpretation of what the Ring Ship would have looked like had its design been accepted.

The 3DS file contains both a 3DS and an OBJ file.

Federation Torpedo
Race: Federation
Mesh by: the Axeman

Axeman says: "I originally made a torpedo back in 1998 and it was terrible. I was moved to spend half an hour remaking it with my somewhat improved skills, turning it from a 1000 polygon horror into a 6000 polygon torpedo." This RAR archive includes two torpedo variants.

Galaxy class engineering
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Jimmy Obrien

This is a superb quality mesh of the engineering section of a Galaxy class ship like the Enterprise-D. It includes turbolift entrances, to the central console, to Geordi's office right through to the warp core. To see a walkthrough animation download this movie. The movie requires the X-vid codec.
The mesh as it is reports three missing maps and some missing UVW Coordinates, but it renders just fine as you can see in the thumbnail. I'm still trying to find the missing maps.

Intrepid Shuttlebay for Sarod's Intrepid
Race: Federation
Mesh by: S-Stephen

S-Stephen created two additions to Sarod's Intrepid mesh. The first is the animated landing gear add-on, which is for download together with the mesh itself, and second is this shuttlebay interior. This is listed as a seperate mesh as you don't need to use it with Sarod's ship. However, if you load Sarod's ship, and then load this mesh into it, you'll find it's a perfect fit. As Sarod's ship already has an animated door, you can easily do animations like this one (3.3 MB)! For credit, please remember it's S-Stephen that made this shuttlebay mesh, and Sarod that did the Intrepid mesh.

NX-01 Ship recorder-marker
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Robert Heckadon

This is a very simple mesh, as there's very little reference material. It's the ship recorder that was recovered from the S.S. Valiant before it tried to leave the galaxy. Only difference is that this one has NX-01 on it as registration. It's a very simple model, but then again, the recorder is only a very small device.

** PLEASE NOTE DOWNLOAD INFO **

This is James' take on the Ambassador Class ship, with the difference from the others on this site mostly down to modelled details as opposed to texturing. This makes it especially nice in scenes with angled light!

Since this mesh is in OBJ format, it should be readable by all 3D Software supported here. Since the site database does not accept OBJ normally, the format specific download links below DO NOT WORK. There is a working link at the bottom!

Ambassador class
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Kenny_Z

Although Kenny is very modest about this mesh and didn't think it added anything next to the other Ambassadors on this site, I don't agree. The mesh shape may be slightly simpler than Tachy's, but I like the texturing and general 'feel' of this mesh better. Have a look for yourself!

One of the first warp capable earth exploration craft.

This is an author mix; the 3DS and LWO versions are totally different:
3DS: Original mesh author unknown, extra detail and texture maps added by Gustavo Leão. This mesh is reasonable detailed, and looks quite nice.
LWO: Mesh by WarriorDL, comes in three versions: The Archon, Horizon and Essex. The LWO is a more detailed mesh than the 3DS.

This is an uprated variation of the DY-100 CLASS vessel, as detailed in the Star Trek Space-Flight Chronology Manual. It's listed under Canon as it looks a lot like the DY-500 displayed in the TNG episode 'Up The Long Ladder.' Thanks to Chris Martin for the extra info.

DY-100 S.S. Botany Bay
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Andrew J. Hodges

The DY-100 is an early-era interplanetary space vessel. DY-100' vessels used nuclear powered engines and were equipped with suspended animation (stasis) facilities for extended voyages. The SS Botany Bay launched from earth in 1996 carried the infamous dictator and leader of the Eugenics war Khan Noonien Singh, where he was revived years later by Captain Kirk of the Enterprise. Khan tried to kill Kirk and steal his ship, but was thwarted and exiled with his followers to the planet Ceti Alpha 6, where he escaped many years later and was killed by the detonation of the Genesis Device.

This mesh is a stunner. It's very accurate, and still renders up quite quickly. The thumbnail is quite bright to show all detail, but have a go at rendering this baby in a well-lit scene, and you'll be amazed at the quality. Share your results in the Public Gallery of course! :)

Nebula Class Restyled
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Flat Eric
LWO conversion my Mattc.

This mesh is a stunner! It also features a simple, yet effective shuttlebay at the back. The texturing is such that it reflects nicely on any scene lights (like sun glare for example), and it includes all lights for the ship itself. Also, as an addition, this ship is configurable to display either U.S.S. Sutherland, U.S.S. Phoenix or U.S.S. Farragut. This changes not only the registration, but each version has it's own pod at the back (ie weapon, sensor).

This is the first Nebula I had available on this site. Not the best in the world, but the best in the PD in 3DS format (that I know of).
The 3DS and MAX versions of this mesh have been updated, fixing the bottom saucer problem, and fixing most texture problems with the 3ds version.

If you can open LWO or MAX, however, I strongly suggest you get Eric's version!

Mesh by: Raul Mamoru
Lightwave conversion by Sam Wich

This mesh of the Nova class boasts the U.S.S. Equinox name as seen in the Voyager episode of the same name. A slower, Warp 8, science vessel that got stranded in the Delta quadrant well before Voyager.

Since OBJ can be read by 3DS capable software, the STMC has it listed as 3DS. However, the 3DS download link below does not work. Please use the OBJ download link below it.

The Lightwave conversion by Sam has the option of having no registration, or the registration USS Resolution. Aside from that it is a clean, straight conversion.

To boldly go.... Words that very much apply to the crew of this ship. About 200 years before TOS, according to TOS references, this ship had been swept through the galactic barrier.

This mesh of the NCC-1701-A Constitution refit class ship, looks different from Eric's, in that it is more movie-realistic. The hull has a more metallic look and adds much nice panelling. This mesh also features more detail. The modelling is of such quality that the mesh will be very good in movies and picture closeups at the same time.

There are some tiny problems with the nacelles in the MAX conversion, but overall a very nice mesh. The ship is as seen in 'TNG: All good things...', including the extra phaser bank and the 'wings.' There are a few mesh errors which are easy to conceal by good lighting and camerawork.

U.S.S. Enterprise-D Seperatable

This model is very much different from the one above. Although the shape is less good, this one is seperatable, which makes for nice animation possibilities. For non-seperated sequences, I still suggest the one above, but if you need to do some seperating, get this one. Also people with memory of 32mb or less should be better off with this one, as it eats much less memory.

A very good and quite accurate mesh of the 1701-E, another great mesh by Ed Giddings. The shape may be a bit less accurate than Chris' 1701-E, but this one's finished and detailed.
The MAX version by Deks has been retextured to add more detail, and makes this ship look sweet! The thumbnail is from this MAX version. The 3DS and LWO versions are less detailed than this MAX version, as they are 'plain' conversions.

Mesh by: Ed Giddings
Conversion to MAX (and MAX retexturing) by Deks, 3DS by Erik Timmermans.

This is definitely the most accurate Promentheus mesh in the public domain!
Special feature of the mesh is that it's seperable as seen in the series, with warp nacelles included in the saucer section.

There are two revisions:
Revision 1 (3DS & COB): The first mesh made by Ed Giddings.
Since I cannot save groups to 3DS files, the 3DS zipfile contains multiple 3DS objects to retain hierarchy; namely the bottom, middle and saucer section, and the two seperate nacelles for the saucer.

Revision 2 (LWO & MAX): Remodelled and retextured to add more detail, which makes this ship look sweet! The LWO is by Ed Giddings himself, the MAX is a converion of that by Deks.

For those that had problems opening the 3DS version, Raul has included an OBJ version to help out.

In addition, Catherine3678a has created and uploaded a CR2 version, and Matthew released a Poser Prop version of the mesh, many thanks!

U.S.S. Voyager
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Sarod
MAX and 3DS versions by S-Stephen.

The original model by Sarod was in Lightwave. S-Stephen converted it to MAX and 3DS formats. This model is extremely good from some angles, and only slightly less in others. But it renders really quickly and smoothly, and this makes it perfect for detailed stills or animations.

S-Stephen created a simple but very effective landing gear add-on. It's even pre-animated to show it extending, including opening gear doors and folding-out legs. This animation shows it in action (125 KB). There is also the shuttlebay mentioned below, in this animation (3.3 MB).

Download landing gear for MAX (510 KB).

Personally I think this is the best Voyager mesh available. It's quite accurate, far more accurate than Jörgs, and the colours match alot better than William's. If you want to download one Voyager, get this one. The mesh doesn't require any textures; all detail is modelled.

Though the shape is accurate, I must confess I don't really like the colours and textures. Still the model is a nice one, and definitely worth the download if you know your way around the material editor to change colours a bit. A very nice touch is the landing leg, and different meshes for the warp engines in 'up' and 'down' positions. Just load the mesh and merge the files you want. The thumbnail has the engines in the 'up' position.

The Clydesdale craft was created by Raul to fit inside his Spacedock. Since it's mostly made to populate the inside of the dock, it's detail level is specifically for distance shots or animations. It will liven up the inside of the dock nicely.

Galileo Shuttle (NCC1701)
Race: Federation
Mesh by: Raul Mamoru

This Galileo shuttlecraft from the TOS era matches up nicely with the Constitution class mesh that Raul did. That mesh has a simple (low-poly) shuttlecraft in it's shuttle bay, but this is a detailed version including crew members.
The crewmembers are available as a seperate download, in the non-ship category. You can easily find them by searching for Raul or Crew in the mesh searchengine.
In addition, if you wish to put your own markings (naming) on this shuttle, please refer to the Custom Galileo mesh that is also downloadable.

A Poser conversion was done my Mattymanx. The download includes the shuttle (as figure) and crew (as prop). The Poser shuttle door is not movable but the landing pads are.

This mesh of the Workbee (with optional cargo train attached to it), is Raul's definition of 'simple meshes' :). Though they are simple enough to render fast which makes them suitable for animating, I wouldn't quite call them simple. These have as much detail as one could expect from such a small craft!

The small thumbnail doesn't do this justice, it's much better than the small image suggests. A very detailed, very smooth model with big and detailed textures. If you want to do close-up shots of the station, this mesh is your man! This mesh takes a huge amount of memory and CPU power! Bajoran Lightship
Race: Other
Mesh by: Ed Giddings

For the sparse information available I think this is a pretty accurate mesh, very nicely modelled. It's seen in DS9: Explorers, it's a ship that I think uses the sails to travel at warp on the tachyon flows. Or something like that :).

Giving the Breen some punch.

Vulcan Surak shuttle

From The Motion Picture, this is the Surak long range warp shuttle.

Caretaker Array
Race: Other
Mesh by: Chainsaw_NL

Chainsaw seems to be the first to tackle this immense array, and release it into the public domain. And the result has been worth the wait for this model.

Required textures: For all versions (220.29 KB)

Available formats:
3DS (2.56 MB)
MAX (3.79 MB)

Wormhole
Race: OtherFederationJemhadarCardassian
Mesh by: Jörg Gerlach

This is a monster to render (which makes a problem for animations), but it is the best wormhole I've seen so far. Still, it's not perfect from all angles.
Since this mesh uses some very MAX specific functions, I am unable to convert it to 3DS or any other format.

D'Deridex class Warbird
Race: Romulan
Mesh by: Kitbash by Mike Dilliott, see description

Mike Dilliott created this Warbird by using some work by Ed Giddings and Mike Wright. However, he has modified or created every single piece of this mesh. Ed and Mike's Warbirds and textures were used mostly as a basis and inspiration. The resulting mesh is very accurate and comes out on top.

Required textures: For MAX version. (3.61 MB)

Available formats:
MAX (1.1 MB)

TOS Romulan Bird of Prey
Race: Romulan

This mesh looks very simple, but I've seen the studio model, and that looks just thesame :).

Warbird
Race: Romulan
Mesh by: Mike Wright

The first Romulan Warbird te be released in the public domain that's of a good quality. Now Mike did overdo the textures somewhat, they were all in 24 bits colour while most of the didn't even use more than 256. So I did a low-res map version with 8 bit maps to make the mesh renderable. Still you will need alot of memory to load it! I have rendered thesame picture with both versions with no visible difference.
The 24 Bits version was on Mike's site which is no more now, so only the 8-Bits version is now available here.

The MAX version is better than the 3DS or LWO versions.

Required textures: 8-Bits textures for all versions (3.93 MB)

Available formats:
3DS (805.75 KB)
MAX (405.63 KB)
LWO (861.7 KB)

Warbird
Race: Romulan
Mesh by: Ed Giddings
Conversion to 3DS by Erik Timmermans.

This is revesion #2 for the LWO version, the new revision has more detail added to the model, and it makes for a good competitor to other Warbirds out there!
The 3DS and COB versions are still the older revision, and although Mike's Warbird is more accurate and detailed, this one is far more loadable, and thus far better usable for animations and low-mem users. Don't be fooled; this is still quite a good looking model! It doesn't use any textures, all detail is modelled.
