I swear! First (3D) model ever! Of course if one of you guys took a close look at it, you'd see the mistakes I've been making straight away!

Anyway, update on the way today as the upper docking arms (where the static exhibits will be) have been totally reconstructed and I'm now trying to texture them!

Ok completely new docking arms (obviously still working on the textures!)

The original arms when this was an operational starbase would have been the same as the lower ones. The upper arms were retro-fitted with the small island complexes to act as visitor information centres for the static ship displays.

More when I've improved the textures but I'm enjoying the journey!

Latest test renders. Still some texturing to do and the scene lighting to adjust somewhat but almost complete!!

And a rough comparison shot for fun!

A couple more test renders, this time with ships for scale and to give an idea of what goes where!

Thanks to Bucky (1701), Kenny (NX-01) and Andrew Hodges (Daedalus) for their meshes here!

I know I don't post very often, but just wanted to let you know it's a real pleasure to see the fantastic progress you're making! You say you're learning while you create this, but if so you're learning fast! :)

@Erik - Thanks so very much for your kind words and indeed to Chainsaw and Raul as well. It's made my first modelling experience worthwhile!

The model is now (nearly) finished with one or two tweaks to throw in but nothing major I don't think. Unless, of course, you guys have any suggestions? :)

Here she is in several views:

Having trouble getting the Public Gallery to recognise me!! So thought I would post these two quickly done images here.

In the second image, my thanks to Buckky for the TOS 1701, Ed Giddings for the 1701-E, Andrew Hodges for the Daedalus and (out of sight in this image) Kenny for the NX-01!

Enjoy

(PS if anybody knows why the Public Gallery won't recognise my username and password, let me know please? Thanks!

Ooooh, very nice buddy. Station looks spectacular. (firsttime modeler my a... ) Are those rendered BG's or pictures? On a little critical note the lighting doesn't completly match. But if it's an image that would be hard to get right.

Thanks Chainsaw, Yea the backgrounds were images I trawled from the internet AFTER I'd rendered Legacy, so I just had to pick the closest match I could. The images were done pretty much for fun to be honest, but my baby is ready to fly (soon!)

If anybody would like to take a look at this model (and clean it up some because I've probably made loads of mistakes!) I'd be quite happy to have them work on it and release it here. Just let me know guys!

Raul, thank you. I fully intend for this model to be hosted here but just meant that if somebody (more experienced than me) wished to look at it first to make sure there are no obvious memory hogging mistakes, it might be a better release. My modelling talents are so unrefined at the moment that this might be the case.

Otherwise I'm happy to release it as it is? What do you think?
