Thought I'd drop a note to say I've converted it to Lightwave .lwo format and have started the process of retexturing and fixing all the flipped polys, etc. Once I get it done I'll do a lighting rig for it and post the .rar file for you to download.

CaptainJ2400, if you have no objections I'd like to also host this on my site, www.kennyscrap.com in my Star Trek section. There aren't that many decent Ambassador meshes around and I dont have one on my site. Your original version would be there as well, all credit to yourself.

Work in Progress - done most of the mesh fixes it needs, just need to go around it and tweak the colours and surface settings, tectures and lighting.

Also another great refit. Is that rendered in LW?

Yes, it's in Lightwave. It's all I have, although I want to start using Blender sometime soon. I still have to fix all the colours and add textures, then finish replacing the luminosity maps with actual lights.

I got back to this one yesterday, trying to fix all the errors on the saucer. Honestly it wasn't worth it, there were so many errors on the panel edges and around the windows it was going to take ages to fix. What I did instead was rebuild the upper saucer from scratch, using the original as a template for all the windows and so forth. I also took the opportunity to increase the number of segments making up the saucer so that it looks less stepped and more rounded, going from about 50 to 180. I dont know if I'll have time to add all the panel detail again, but at least it's renderable now. I need to add the decals and light it now, then it's nearly done.

I had to leave it for a few days, i got a commision to build some other models for a documentary. I will try and get around to finishing this soon. I still have not received any word from the original author saying it's ok to release the conversion yet, i would not want to put it up for download without permission.

Did you ask Erik? I wouldn't know why there would be any problem posting a conversion as long as it's credited properly.
