Fantastic progress!
Out of interest, do you go straight from idea into model, or do you sketch/draw ideas first?

Both sometimes. It just depends on the mood I'm in. This is based on the actual study model done for the movie and I cgi I version that I had from book about 3d studio max. All I did was use the basic shapes and tried to go more traditional star treky and klingony. But since it's a new month I've changed over to another old project so it will be awhile before I get back to this one.

Nice detail, I like the spotlights there. Really gives it a proper 'functional' look!

UPDATE...
Started to add more detail to the wing. The arrow is pointing to two new feathers that I might turn around. I’m just not sure how I feel about them right now.

UPDATE...
I decided to keep the feathers the way they are. Just didn't want to redo it.
Decided to add a bit to this cut out.

Getting more detail added.

Are you sure you're not *actually* building a spaceship? Just, you know, by accident?

Thanks.
Added a new thingamagig to the back. I’m calling a rear facing disrupter since there already is a torp launcher in the back.

A full body shot.

I always forget to mention the original design is by Bill George.

Think I’m done with the top of this part. I’m not sure about the little spike things I added. Just wanted to make it a little more aggressive looking.

I also add more to the bottom. But this is the and of the work on this ship since it’s a new month. I’ll get back to it later.

Great progress!
Regarding the spikes; I like the idea! In their current form, they seem a bit thin compared with the size of the ship. To me it kind of negates the 'agressive' affect, borders on almost 'those things are cute
'.
Maybe somewhat bigger, or wider at least? I'm not sure...
